UNH football: Ricky Santos named 20th head coach in Wildcats’ history

·

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) has named Ricky Santos as the 20th head coach in the program history on Tuesday morning. Santos will be the new face of Wildcat football, and is tasked with taking the reins from one of the more decorated coaches in the history of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). He’ll also look to restore order into a program that used to be a mainstay in the FCS Playoffs.

Helmet to Headset: Brosmer ‘just as bought in’ after suffering a torn ACL in August

·

ew Hampshire (UNH) sophomore quarterback Max Brosmer was in the best shape of his life ahead of the 2021 fall campaign. On the heels of his third offseason in the program, teammates commended Brosmer’s decision making and athleticism during training camp. A season where Brosmer and the Wildcats were going to have to prove they belonged in the conversation at the top of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) quickly turned into one where Brosmer had to prove himself not only as a quarterback, but a coach.

UNH football: Maine scores 26 unanswered to take the Brice-Cowell Musket back to Orono

·

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (3-8, 2-6) jumped out to a 20-7 lead with 9:50 remaining in the first half of their regular season finale against the Maine Black Bears (6-5, 4-4). From that point forward, four interceptions and six scoring plays for the visiting Black Bears led to 26 unanswered points and the Brice-Cowell Musket’s sixth trip back to Orono since the turn of the century.

UNH football: Wildcats ‘playing for pride’ after being trampled by Mofor

·

First-year quarterback Brody McAndrew got the start on Saturday over sophomore Bret Edwards for the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (3-6, 2-4). The rookie’s inexperience bled through, however, as the Wildcats found themselves playing catch-up with UAlbany (1-8, 1-6) and their senior running back Karl Mofor all afternoon. The 20-7 loss for New Hampshire extends their losing streak to six games and likely their playoff drought to a fourth consecutive season.

UNH football: Each game nearing must-win category for Wildcats after fourth straight loss

·

It was a handful of their usual struggles that manufactured a 24-10 loss for the University of the New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (3-4, 2-2) at the hands of the Elon Phoenix (4-3, 3-1). The offense’s inability to capitalize in the red zone, on third down, and suspect special teams play were the difference makers in New Hampshire’s fourth straight loss.

UNH football: No. 25 Wildcats unable to steal a win from No. 3 JMU after two defensive scores

·

The No. 25 University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (3-2, 2-1) were about two plays shy of upsetting the No. 3 James Madison (JMU) Dukes (4-0, 2-0). The Wildcats were able to keep JMU’s rushing attack from cutting loose like they emphasized during the week. However, the Dukes did what all good football teams do in the 23-21 victory – take what the defense gives you. It was death by a thousand cuts for UNH on Homecoming Weekend as James Madison dominated time of possession.
