Men's hockey - Wildcats cruise to victory amid effort from freshmen

Many questions surrounded the UNH men’s hockey team going into the season. Most notably were the issues involving the youth of a team that was bringing in 10 freshmen. Those questions were put to rest on Saturday night, as the Wildcats defeated Colorado College by a score of 6-2. Four of the six freshman skaters in the lineup tallied a point, with Richard Boyd recording his first career point (two assists) during the matchup. All four lines recorded a goal for the Wildcats, with Boyd, Casey Thrush (two assists) and Maxim Gaudreault (two goals) leading the scoring on the night.

Football — UNH comes from behind to capture sixth straight

They had to fight for every point, but thanks to some smash-mouth football and the help of a little trickery, UNH managed to hold off Stony Brook on Saturday evening to take the game 28-20. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 6-1 on the season and remain undefeated in the CAA.

Freshman phenoms

The concern around the UNH hockey team entering this year was the lack of experience with all of the youth on the team. Questions of “Who will be a leader?”, “Who will score the goals?,” and, most importantly, “Who will be between the pipes?” were frequently asked before the season got underway. The UNH hockey team welcomed 10 new freshmen this year to the team and so far, the young Wildcats have shown they can produce.
