Fast start lifts ‘Cats over Hartford

Once again the Wildcats come out hot and maintained control of the game from the opening tip. The Wildcats shot the ball well, established dominant post play and shared the scoring responsibilities in a 53-42 victory over Hartford on Saturday.

Regular season ends with weekend split against UConn

The regular season came to a close on Sunday, with the Wildcats and the University of Connecticut Huskies splitting a pair of games at the Whittemore Center. Sophomore left wing Carlee Toews scored a late power-play goal to lift UNH to a 2-1 win on Saturday, but UConn answered back with a 2-1 win of its own on Sunday, notching the game-winner in overtime.

Skiing 3rd at Williams

With the NCAA Championships looming, it is crunch time for the UNH ski team. But the stress of the national meet hasn’t fazed the team, which once again finished with a strong third place showing at this weekend’s Williams Carnival. The ‘Cats tallied 720 points throughout the meet, with 197 of those points coming during Friday’s alpine events at Jiminy Peak.

The Wildcats scored 194.000 points, good for second place, in a quad meet against No. 17 George Washington (195.400), the University of North Carolina (193.750) and William & Mary (193.175). But a lost challenge cost the Wildcats, who finished with a 193.700 score in third place.

‘Cats stars shine at conference championships

The women’s indoor track and field team enjoyed a very successful weekend at the America East Conference Championships for indoor track and field with great senior leadership and a second place finish overall. The men also had strong showings in several events, and finished in fifth place.

Despite the season being over six months away, excitement for UNH football was in the air Wednesday night in Portsmouth, as the Department of Athletics unveiled the Victory Club and season ticket options for the new Wildcat Stadium.

Less than a week after two thrilling games against the top two teams in America East, the Wildcats aren’t cooling down. UNH started off hot against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks and didn’t look back en route to an 80-69 victory.

Pflieger, ‘Cats floor Southern Connecticut

The Wildcats have experienced a rash of injuries in the last couple weeks, and it was never more clear than in Saturday night’s Stick It For The Cure meet against Southern Connecticut State University. But with several gymnasts out, junior standout Meghan Pflieger rose up to lead the ‘Cats to a 194.100-190.425.

UNH hits major milestones against Vermont

It was a bend-but-don’t-break weekend for the Wildcats as they hosted Vermont for a weekend doubleheader. UNH dropped Friday night’s decision 3-2, then tied Saturday’s game 2-2 to grab a single Hockey East point. The result gave Vermont a jump over UNH in the Hockey East standings, and the Wildcats’ probability of securing home ice in the Hockey East playoffs remains questionable.

The men’s and women’s track teams completed a busy weekend, but the looming America East Conference Championships haven’t kept them from posting some impressive times in this weekend’s races.

Slalom lifts ‘Cats to 3rd

This weekend’s Dartmouth Carnival marked a solid showing for the UNH skiing team. The Wildcats placed third in the meet, though the women’s alpine squad taking first place in Saturday’s slalom event at the Dartmouth Skiway. UNH totaled 826 points in the contest, 122 of those points coming from the Women’s Alpine squad. They trailed only Vermont (888) and Dartmouth (858).
