Penalties plague Wildcats in 24-20 loss on opening night

·

DURHAM, N.H. – It felt more like November than September when the Wildcats (0-1) kicked off their season this time around. As snow lined Wildcat Stadium redshirt sophomore quarterback Jeff Undercuffler torched the Wildcat defense in the third quarter to build a 10-point UAlbany (1-0) lead. UNH beat themselves as penalties stacked up and they squandered a chance to steal a win in the final moments. Despite shining at points, the Wildcats fell by a final of 24-20 in their first of six games this spring.

·

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire (UNH) women’s soccer improved to 4-0 (1-0 America East) with a 1-0 win over the University of Maine (0-3, 0-1). The perfect record to this point is the best start the program has seen in their history. The Border Battle was a defensive one for the full 90 minutes, with neither team finding the net in regular time. It took overtime and a strike from the captain, senior forward Francesca Picicci, to send the Black Bears back to Orono empty-handed. UNH outshot Maine 16-4 and looked the better side throughout.

Wildcats’ comeback falls short in America East Quarterfinals

·

ALBANY, N.Y. – University of New Hampshire (UNH) women’s basketball fell to the University of Albany (UAlbany) in the first round of the America East Tournament by a final score of 49-43 on Sunday. UNH (5-15, 5-11) entered the contest as the fifth seed, with UAlbany (6-10, 5-7) earning the fourth seed. Head coach Kelsey Hogan's young team almost pulled off a double-digit comeback, but back-to-back three-pointers with under two minutes to play proved to be the dagger for the Wildcats.
