‘This is it’: UNH seniors reflect on club baseball

·

The floodlights behind home plate and past both right and left field comes to life as batting practice rages on. The sounds of a bat slapping a ball across the diamond echo seemingly endlessly. For 51 years sounds and sights like these were commonplace at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) as the baseball program prepared for their season. But that is a bygone era.

UNH men’s soccer: No. 7 Wildcats primed for fourth-straight conference title after knocking off Binghamton

·

The battle for the top of the America East (AE) wasn’t much of a fight for University of New Hampshire (UNH) men’s soccer (12-0-0, 4-0-0). The undefeated Wildcats made easy work of the Binghamton Bearcats (7-3-1, 2-1-0). The would-be usurpers quickly learned why the ‘Cats wear the crown in the conference. The reigning AE champs put Binghamton to the sword by a final of 4-1 and proved that the conference is once again theirs for the taking.

UNH men’s hockey: Wildcats backed by strong veteran presence in 2021-22

·

DURHAM, N.H. – The rays of the hot summer sun have subsided, the leaves on the trees have started to fade from green to red, and most importantly the puck is ready to drop in Durham. After a long 580-day period that saw the world as we know it flip upside-down a few times, fans will finally be back at the Whittemore Center on Friday night to cheer on the University of New Hampshire (UNH) men’s hockey team at their season opener against Union College.

UNH volleyball: Kate Bilyeu steps up for Wildcats in weekend split

UNH football: No. 25 Wildcats unable to steal a win from No. 3 JMU after two defensive scores

·

The No. 25 University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (3-2, 2-1) were about two plays shy of upsetting the No. 3 James Madison (JMU) Dukes (4-0, 2-0). The Wildcats were able to keep JMU’s rushing attack from cutting loose like they emphasized during the week. However, the Dukes did what all good football teams do in the 23-21 victory – take what the defense gives you. It was death by a thousand cuts for UNH on Homecoming Weekend as James Madison dominated time of possession.

UNH men’s hockey: Souza talks about team leadership at Hockey East Media Day

·

Following a season shortened by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats failed to gain much momentum finishing with a 6-14-3 record. The Wildcats will look to get off on the right foot early this year. With an experienced batch of 11 seniors including goaltender Mike Robinson, the Wildcats have the leadership they need to have a successful season in an incredibly competitive Hockey East Conference.

UNH men’s soccer: No. 6 Wildcats catch fire in the second half to remain undefeated

·

It was a tale of two halves in Durham Friday night. Wildcat Stadium had little to cheer about in the first 45 minutes versus the New Jersey Institute of Technology (2-6-1, 1-2-0). The Wildcats looked frustrated and a little fatigued after a brutal stretch of games. Halftime was enough of a breather for the No. 6 team in the country. The University of New Hampshire (UNH) men's soccer team (11-0-0, 3-0-0) looked refreshed and reloaded in the second half. The ‘Cats put three past the Highlanders in the span of 15 minutes to maintain their perfect record.

UNH football: No. 25 Wildcats turn the page on Pitt, brace for No. 3 JMU on Homecoming Weekend

·

The No. 25 University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (3-1, 2-0) have not let last week’s 70-point beating at Pittsburgh (Pitt) sour their moods ahead of Homecoming Weekend. New Hampshire will be welcoming the FCS powerhouse No. 3 James Madison (JMU) Dukes (3-0, 1-0) into Wildcat Stadium. The Dukes were FCS semifinalists in the spring and are the second leg of the toughest portion of the Wildcats’ schedule this fall.

UNH men’s soccer: No. 6 Wildcats’ claws were out, but the underbelly may be soft as defense looked vulnerable against Harvard

·

The No. 6 University of New Hampshire (UNH) men's soccer team (10-0-0, 2-0-0) secured another dominant victory Tuesday night over the Harvard Crimson (3-3-1, 0-0-0). At least, that's what the box score says. The home side won 3-1 and outshot Harvard 14-8. The 'Cats had seven shots on target to the Crimson's five. Harvard never won a corner while UNH won four. But beyond the stat sheet, UNH presented in a way they haven’t all season, especially at home: vulnerable.
