Alpha Loft’s Founders Series comes to Durham
As part of Alpha Loft’s “Startup Tuesday” event, two UNH alumni spoke about their successes and challenges of starting their respective businesses in the Entrepreneurship Center (ECenter) in Madbury Commons. Based out of Portsmouth, Alpha Loft is a nonprofit economic development organization dedicated to helping founders of startups getting off the ground with locations in Durham, Portsmouth and Manchester. Alpha Loft sponsors a series of events around the Southern New Hampshire area every Tuesday, bringing in founders of startup companies that have started in the seacoast and southern New Hampshire areas.

There are more salons surrounding the University of New Hampshire than there are barbers, and, as a result, men often have to travel farther off campus to find a barbershop that suits their needs. As noted by UNH Connect Coordinator Andres Meija, black students in particular have difficulty with this problem due to the fact that not all barbers are experienced with cutting and styling multiple types of hair.

For any typical first-year athlete, the summer before one’s first season is surely filled with strenuous training. For Dylan Thomson, a goalkeeper on the men’s soccer team, the summer leading to his first UNH season saw him complete a 4,500-mile bike trip.
