UNH increases COVID-19 mask requirements

Hampshire (UNH) community and around the country. Rising cases around the country and region led UNH administrators to again impose mask requirements in all indoor spaces under new CDC guidance, with over 88% of the student population being fully vaccinated.

UNH reacts to HB2 regulations on teaching race

With language prohibiting certain ideas from being taught in public schools in place, HB2 passed this summer and was signed into law by Gov. Chris Sununu. Most University of New Hampshire (UNH) classrooms will not be affected by any language in the law due to a provision that exempts faculty in the New Hampshire university and community college system.  They are protected from anything that would restrict their academic freedom “to conduct research, publish, lecture, or teach in the academic setting.” But, the bill's effect on diversity training at UNH remains uncertain.

This past summer, University of New Hampshire (UNH) undergraduate students had the chance to get their hands full and conduct research on campus again. Whether it be investigating behavioral correlations with substance use or studying bee pollination in New Hampshire, UNH’s undergraduate researchers were busy this summer and their work shows it.

For many University of New Hampshire (UNH) students, April was the month of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. All became eligible in one way or another, and many received their first or second shot.

Year in review: Durham’s mask ordinance

When the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic prompted widespread mask wearing, the federal government left states and towns to decide whether or not it was enforceable. Despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s advice to wear a mask in any public place, it took months for ordinances to appear in many communities.

When students returned to the University of New Hampshire (UNH) campus for the 2020 fall semester, they were met with new regulations and changes on campus due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. One of the many changes that took place was the way in which students could eat and get food from campus dining locations. With the university’s plan to be fully operational by the fall 2021 semester, UNH Dining hopes to safely make some changes while adhering to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) recommended guidelines.

Spring 2021 was the third semester coronavirus (COVID-19) was present in the streets of Durham. This spring students continued to test regularly, use Wildcat pass, take hybrid classes, and follow additional safety restrictions. COVID-19 took up a lot of TNH’s reporting this spring and below is a compilation of that work.

New Hampshire drought lingers as summer approaches

New Hampshire's drought conditions have improved substantially from the extreme dry-spell that much of the seacoast experienced in the fall. But University of New Hampshire (UNH) Fruit & Vegetable Production Field Specialist George Hamilton said he is still worried about the conditions, particularly a lack of snow in the winter which can lead to drought conditions in the spring.
