For the first time in four years, SCOPE graced the University of New Hampshire’s campus with an outdoor concert that rivaled the vibe a typical music festival gives its fans. The concert took place in A Lot on Sunday, Sept. 28, filled with vintage vendors, food trucks, and thousands of music fans.
As doors opened at 4 p.m., WUNH, the campus radio station, greeted concertgoers with an hour-long vinyl-only set. DJ David hyped the crowd up with various artists ranging from David Bowie to Clairo.
“I kind of felt like a fish out of water since I was not using DJ equipment, just two turntables, but we made it work! Seeing a crowd so excited about music is always really special, and I'm really thankful to SCOPE and One If By Land productions for letting me go on and play music for everyone; it really was an honor,” said David.
This was the second direct collaboration WUNH has done with SCOPE, the first being the Battle of the Bands last spring, where Bad Lab won and ended up opening for Waka Flocka that semester, said David.
Following the WUNH vinyl set was Sneaky Miles, a local band from Newmarket, NH, that has emerged quickly into the local music scene.
“As long-time fans, opening for The Backseat Lovers was a dream come true. We’re overjoyed by the turnout at UNH and excited for what’s next,” said Sneaky Miles.
Second to last in the line-up was Jake Minch, a Connecticut-born TikTok sensation. Members of the audience had cardboard signs for him and sang along to every tune, showing off the vast support he has here at UNH.
Lastly came the Backseat Lovers, who rocked the stage with fiery passion. Lead singer and guitarist Joshua Harmon electrified their start with a guitar-heavy piece that wrung out across A Lot as the sun set on Durham.
SCOPE’s fall concert was a sell-out success, and UNH anticipates a wonderful pairing for their spring concert.
