Hello! We're Sophia and Leah: two UNH students with an anonymous advice column run out of The New Hampshire (TNH). You may have seen our faces around the last couple semesters probing you for questions we'd answer in print. We started a podcast Spring 2025 to talk about issues UNH students face from dating to how to decorate on a budget, to what you want to do with the rest of your life, etc, etc. Catch up on out past episodes where we share stories from the UNH community, and advice for students from students.
Episode 1: Vday Special--UNH Dating Horror Stories
Have you ever been the victim of a Hoco first date? Did your campus crush ask you out only for you to be the 5th person they'd taken to The Works? Were you romantically DMed on YikYak? If you relate to these experiences or are intrigued by their horror keep reading. For our debut episode we're unpacking anonymous UNH horror stories submitted to us--in the spirit of Valentines day. So grab your chocolate, some sour gummy candy, a blanket, and maybe some tissues and listen in.
Episode 2: UNH Food and Freshman Regrets
Whats the best thing to do when you're trapped inside and stressing about midterms? Eat and think! In a town like Durham where theres a lot to regret and sometimes little to eat: join Sophia and Leah as they talk about their favorite restaurants, how to season the unseasoned within Hoco + Philly, and share their Freshman year regrets.
Episode 3: UNH Roommate Nightmares
Does your roommate shower, or have any boundaries at all? If they do then you're probably better off than most of our submissions this week. For this episode Sophia and special guest cohost Peter tell real-life roommate nightmares submitted by UNH students. So grab your roommate(s), or go to the lounge, and listen in.
Episode 4: UNH Students--Big Life Questions
Are you struggling with senioritis? Are you weighing the pros and cons of matrimony at a young age? We're here to help. For this episode Sophia and special guest cohost Peter answer your life-altering questions--to the best of their ability.
Episode 5: UNH Students--Mom/Dad Lore
You're spending some time with your father. You ask him what he did at your age, and he tells you about a time when he stole a horse from the stables, drank an entire bottle of moonshine and ran around his college town wearing nothing but an eye patch. Your father's story contains important life lessons and biographical information that have formed the person he came to be. One day you may be in your father's place--what stories will you tell? For this episode, Sophia and special guest cohost Peter unpack anonymous submissions of UNH students' future Mom and Dad lore, as well as their own.
Episode 6: It's a Bright Day to be a Wildcat!
You've been studying hard in a dark, dark room with popcorn ceiling that has housed generations of UNH students. The only fluids in your system are caffeine and Hoco general gau stir fry sauce. It's time for some fresh air. You open the window to a beautiful sight: a. your campus crush, b. a student getting downed by a pine cone (they survive though), and/or c. your professor's dog. One or all of these options is sure to affirm that it's a great day to be a Wildcat.
